Inside our hearts is where the Lord resides. Therefore, as a Temple of the Holy Spirit, we need to always be on guard of areas that are actually considered the gateway to the heart and soul of a man. One must remember, everything that goes into the mind, eyes, ears and mouth, tends to affect the whole temple.
That means, what we choose to think on, see, hear, and taste is all feeding into us, be it good or bad. Therefore, it is of utmost importance to surround ourselves with things that are wholesome, clean and nourishing. To actively practice this, will truly make one happier, healthier and feel better about ourselves.
If we faithfully practice feasting on things that are pure and lovely, our spirit, our soul and our body are refreshed, properly nourished, and strengthened, which enables us to arise to new heights!
Therefore, it is extremely important to choose wisely, books, magazines and newspapers, also guard what our eyes see on the computer, TV, movies etc. and even the jokes we listen to. And last, but certainly not least–faithfully be wise when it comes to choosing what we place in our mouths. For the old saying is very fitting to this situation—“Junk in, Junk out!”
Also another area that really affects us, the Temple of God is –“our attitudes”. How we perceive things in this world, which can either build us up or tear us down. Sooner or later, we all face circumstances in life that are beyond our control. –BUT–We don’t have to eat (emotionally and physically) everything that comes our way. A “positive attitude” can make a world of difference on the outcome of ones circumstance. I certainly know by experience that a upbeat attitude definitely makes it easier to get through life’s hard times. Besides, filling your mind and heart with the word of God and “good clean laughter” is better than any medicine and a heck of a lot easier to swallow!
So I encourage you, “Learn to laugh at yourself and the world and please don’t take life so seriously that you forget to enjoy it!” Laughter is actually catching! Believe it or not “happiness breeds happiness.” And people just take pleasure in being around a positive, lighthearted person!
So, for optimal health, I recommend a daily diet of—The Word of God, mixed with a positive disposition, plus, a healthy dose of food and good clean laughter. You will find, it is the best possible medicine ever! Coupled together, it helps bring about inner healing and choosing joy also guarantees you a lifetime of Friendships!
Remember, “We are what we eat—mentally, spiritually and physically!” So, let me ask you, “What are you feasting on?”
1 Corinthians 3:16…Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you?
